Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo arrived in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, for an investigation tour on Development of western China on June 6.
Arroyo, heading a 40-member delegation composed of business people in the sectors of foodstuff, tourism and information technology, is here to learn about the social and economic development of the province in a bid to promote trade cooperation between the two sides.
Du Qinglin, secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with Arroyo upon her arrival, and briefed her about the development of the region.
The Philippine president also addressed a business seminar on cooperation between Chengdu and the Philippines.
Besides Chengdu, Arroyo's China trip took her to Chongqing Municipality.
Arroyo, heading a business delegation, attended a trade seminar in Chongqing Municipality on June 7 and vowed to enhance cooperation with the city in areas like automobile, motorcycle, mining and logistics.
The Philippines is ready to conduct extensive exchanges and cooperation with western China, said Arroyo in a speech at the seminar.
More than 100 representatives and the Philippine delegation, consisting of businessmen in the sectors of foodstuff, machinery, tourism and information technology, attended the seminar.
The Philippines is one of the major importers of motorcycles and nickel turned out in Chongqing.
Arroyo also held talks with Chongqing party chief Wang Yang and mayor Wang Hongju during the visit.
